Albas

A very old variety of roses. The Albas flower quite early in the summer, and almost always have a pleasant scent. These are also very resistible to diseases. Foliage is grey-green, and there are plenty on an upright and vigorous plant, which will fit in any garden. Albas are flowering 4 weeks per year.

Bourbons

Bourbons first emerged in the mid-19th century. They are quite different from each other - by height and by colour as well. In the Victorian period, their popularity was very high, because they were flowering from Spring till late Autumn. All roses from this group posses a strong scent.

Centifolias

Centuries old roses, which make magnificent shrubs from a hundred of petals in smaller double flowers with extraordinary perfum and proper arrangement of their petals. They are flowering 4 weeks per year.

Chinas

They first appeared in the mid-18th century, and their long flowering period made them particularly popular in the 19th century. Their foliage is shiny, while their scent is somewhat less intensive than with other old roses. Their country of origin is China.

Damasks

Some roses from this family date back to 6th century. These are quite healthy varieties, and all have a characteristic Damask perfume - without exceptions. Some varieties are renewing their flowering.

Portlands

All of the roses from this group bloom continuously. This is a subgroup of the Damask family.

Gallicas

Some of the oldest grown roses belong to this family. This group has a wide colour spectar - from almost black to pale pink. They are mostly thornless, and they create a compact bush of large flowers. The flowers may vary, from simple to double, but all are scented. Gallicas are flowering 3-4 weeks per year.

Hybrid Perpetuals

Emerged in the mid-19th century, these can vary from double, strong flowers to simple ones. Also, their aromatic attributes are not equal with all varieties - some have a soft fruity scent, while other posses a strong clammy flavour. Their height may vary, too - there are shorter, but compact shrubs, while some are robust, which repeat their flowering during the year.

Mosses

Derived from Centifolias, this group has a mossy buds and stems. These are covered with a very small thorns, or hair better to say, which are very perfumed. A very interesting group, but unfortunately it flowers only 3-4 weeks per year. Mostly are extremely aromatic, and exist in all colours and sizes.

Spinosissimas

t the beginning of 19th century this family was as large as Floribundas are today. The main characteristics of these roses are their foliages, which look like a fern. Because of their strong thorns, these are often used as tall hedges.

Rugosas

These are among the most healthiest of all roses. Oftenly used as tall hedges, thanks to their strong thorns and dark green foliages. The flowers are aromatic, and some bear abundant hips. They are mostly flowering during the entire season.

Teas

In the beginning, Teas were grown in greenhouses and conservatories rather than in gardens. These are a very beautiful roses, which can be a fabulous garden plants, if grown in sunny places. They are flowering during the whole year.

Hybrid Teas - Older Varieties

These roses are of complex ancestry, and in most cases are perfumed. Only older varieties are available in this group.

Polyanthas and Older Floribundas

The Polyanthas are compact in growth, and they produce clusters of small flowers during the entire season. Floribundas also produce flowers in clusters - in most cases continuously.

Hybrid Musks

The family was created by the beginning of the 19th century. A strong plants, with flowers grouped in a large clusters, and usually perfumed. They are flowering throughout the season.

Species

These are wild roses. Flowers are mostly simple made, and many varieties produce berries after the flowering. Most of these are suitable for garden roses.

Ramblers

Except a few varieties, these roses are flowering only 3-4 weeks per year, but they look spectacular. Usually they need 2-3 years to start flowering.

Climbers

They have larger flowers than Ramblers, and all flowers are created in new year stems. Their scent ability may vary, and they mostly flower during the entire season.

English Roses

They flower continually throughout the year. Perfect, extremely healthy bushes with many large blooms of exceptional fragrance.
